Heart Stuff

I havent really posted much about Parker's upcoming heart surgery but it will be here before I know it. We are "penciled in" for a day in mid March. I have been trying to think of things I can do to prepare Parker for having surgery and for being in the hospital for a few weeks. I found this book on "Kids with Heart" website. It is called Matty's Heart and is about a little boy who was born with a heart defect and it goes through his journey in and out of the hospital. We started reading it to Parker this week.

We are starting with a few pages at a time and skipping the parts that dont really apply to him. There is also a page on the ACH website that has a video for kids to tour the hospital and see where they are going to go and have surgery, you can watch the video Here. I also printed off the coloring book version of the video for Parker.
Scout is ACH's mascot and I thought that if he learned who Scout is, he would be excited to see him all over the hospital! I think any little thing will help and certainly wont hurt.

Yesterday we scheduled Parker's Heart Cath. This is a procedure to look at Parker's heart and make sure he is ready for his heart surgery. The doctor can aslo do any little tweeks to his heart that need to be done for surgery. His Cath will be Feb 25th. Scheduling this means his surgery is that much closer, ahhh!! We will also go in for his echo on Feb 16th to look at the heart function before his cath. Please pray for Parker, he is such a strong little guy but this is alot for a 3 year old to comprehend. Thank you for all of your prayers and support!

Random pics and Big Buck Classic

Just a few random pictures from phone...

I told yall how obessessed Parker is with Toy Story...well, Buzz Lightyear is never far...

This past weekend we went to the Big Buck Classic. It is a hunting expo that happens every january. It is full of animals and hunting "stuff". Parker was in heaven with all the animals. We tried to get a picture with this bear but this is as close as he would get =)

Loving the fish!!

His favorite part was the live bears!

To Infinity and Beyond!

I just think the way Parker says "To Infinty and Beyond" is so funny. It comes out all jumbled...

A little catching up to do

It has been a few days since I last posted. There hasnt been much going on besides our normal acitivities and I have been getting ready for school to start back...

Doesnt that look fun! Well, it started back Wednesday and to say I am overwhelmed is a huge understatement. I havent been the nicest to Dennis since school started; I think I am taking all of my stress out on him. All he wants to do is support me, and that isnt always easy. He is the best support system and I could not get through this next year without him.

I wanted to give a little update on the puppy (Oliver)! We have had him about a month and he is the best dog! Parker loves to wrestle with him and he calls him "Dolliber". Dennis took him camping with him this weekend and he did great! Oliver is the best mix between lazy, fun and laid back. He loves to play, but loves to relax just the same. He is also house trained and crate trained...it was surprisingly easy!

Isnt he pretty?!

Parker has a new obsession...Toy Story.

He loves his buzz lightyear pjs and house shoes.

He sleeps with buzz every night.
Parker is growing up so fast! He is completely potty trained for about 2 weeks now. I dont even have to ask him every 15 minutes if he needs to go anymore...he just tells me! Everyday I look at him and think about how much of a little man he is!

Fun in the Snow

On Sunday afternoon Parker woke up from his nap to find snow!!! It was practically a blizzard (well, it was for Arkansas!)

This year he actually wanted to play!

He was very amazed at making foot prints in the snow.

His eye lashes are so long that they collected a few inches of snow!!

Of course we had to eat the snow =)

On Monday morning Dennis drove us over to Diane and Bjs house to play with Mallory. We made a sled out of a cheap sand box.

We spent an hour sledding and the kids did not want to go in!!

That night Parker got a kick out of throwing snow balls!

Family picture

On Tuesday Diane and Mallory came over to play. This was our very sad attempt at building a snowman =)

Parker was not having a very good day and this is what I had to deal with for most of that day =) Needless to say....I was very glad school was back in today =) I love my son but he needs structure and snow days do not provide that!
Overall, we had a blast in the snow! but I am very glad our snow days are few and far between!

Im a hunter?

Dennis has been wanting me to go duck hunting with him for a few years, so I finally gave in!! (I really did want to go)
On Friday night I had to try on all my "gear"....

4:00 am Saturday morning came really early. We drove to the river and then had a 20 minute boat ride to the spot. Here is me on the boat...

I know, you can barely see me =) Dennis was very sweet all morning, on the boat ride he made a shield for me and I really could not feel the wind at all and never got cold (even though it was like 24 degrees). I had tons of hand and foot warmers to help me out!

Once we got out of the boat we had to walk for about 10 minutes in the dark, I cant believe I didnt fall (the waders were for a mens size 10), but I did have a pretty awsome head lamp (pretty cool, right?!). I didnt have to do much when we got there, Dennis and his friend stephen did everything. They were such gentlemen the whole morning.

I did have lots of fun, but did not kill anything =( Im not so great with a gun but I am going to practice and next time the ducks better watch ou!!

Thanks Dennis for a fun morning =)

I did have one mishap, I tore a hole in the waders. Sorry, babe! Thats what happens when you let a rookie wear your waders.
I would say my first time duck hunting was a success and I will definitely go again. It was a great time with my husband, seeing what his favorite hobby is all about.

Sugar Bowl

Last night the Razorbacks played Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. I think we were one of the few fans that remained in Arkansas for the big game! We were so excited that the Hogs were in a big BCS bowl game!!

Stephen, Sarah and Sydney came over and watched the game with us.

It wasnt the best game, we lost =(

Parker and Sydney watched the game for maybe 5 minutes, but Parker was very excited when we made our first touchdown!!

We spent half time making cookies.

The kids have so much fun playing together and we had a great time hanging out with our friends. The game was just not that fun to watch and the end result was not what we were hoping for, but we are still proud to be Razorback fans =) I am so glad that Stephen and Sarah came over to watch the game and decided to stay the whole game!

Happy Birthday

New Years Day is my husband's birthday. He was the first baby born in 1980 in the city of Benton (he even made the paper!). Everyone is always tired on his birthday because of the night before, but he doesnt mind. Dennis would rather hunt, watch movies and hang out with his family on his birthday. I have his favorite meal in the crockpot and he duck hunted this morning! The movies and popcorn are ready! I think all of these things are a recipe for a great birthday! I sure hope so!

I am so blessed to have this wonderful man in my life. He is the best daddy to Parker!

Parker looks up to Dennis and could not love him more!

He is the best husband I could ever ask for! He has to put up with alot from me =)

Happy Birthday Dennis!!

We love you!
