Girls weekend

This past weekend, my mom and I flew out to LA to see my sister. We left on Thursday afternoon. Dennis stayed home with Parker. They had a boys weekend and Granny came to play with Parker on Saturday!
On Friday, we spent the whole day helping Amy finish decorate her apartment. It looks so good!! I hung my first picture...it's hard to decorate when there are no boys around!! Amy came back to LA with us (she goes to school in Thousand Oaks, about 30 minutes from LA). We spent the next two days sleeping in, relaxing, shopping!, eating, going to the movies, etc. It was such a fun time...I really needed it! I am so thankful for Dennis staying home with Parker while I had a fun girls weekend!

Mom and I at the airport

The girls!
This was the first trip I have taken without Dennis or Parker being with me. I missed them so much!

And, of course, a cute picture of Parker. In LA, I got part of his Easter outfit. It is so hard to find cute clothes for boys!!

This is a horrible picture!! but doesnt he look so old!!?? I got him a white, blue and navy striped shirt and a sweater vest. It is a little too big right now but hopefully it will fit perfectly in a the next month or so. I just cant get over how big he is getting.
I have to tell yall a story...Mom and I took the red eye back to Little Rock (a flight in the middle of the night!!). When we got to the airport on Monday morning Parker was waiting for me. He ran across the airport to me yelling "mommy, mommy" with his arms held out!! UGGH!! I almost lost it...what a cutie! He is so big! I feel like he is talking (like really talking) more than when I left. Of course, Dennis takes all the credit!
Also, Parker has started going to bed on his own! He walks back to his bedroom, turns on his box fan (we have to have noise when we sleep!!), climbs into his "big boy bed", covers himself up and says "night-night". When did he get so old!

So, now that I have taken a few days off I have ALOT to do!! I have laundry, work and this week I have midterms!! Hope everyone has a great week!

B-ball

Last night we went to my sister's basketball game. She doesnt play, she is a cheerleader. It was their very last homegame and tournaments start this week. Last year they were the state champions...so, hopefully they will do good this year! It was senior night. I really cant believe that Kelsey is a senior in highschool!!!
Parker just loves basketball games!! As we were walking to the gym from the car he kep yelling "b-ball!! b-ball!!".

He is such a big boy, he sat on the bleachers behind us so he could see better! Just look how serious he is while watching the game.....

Everytime anything happened he would yell and clap. This is the perfect place for Parker. He can be as loud as he wants and no one can really tell.
Here are some of the seniors and their parents. Kelsey is the second cheerleader from the left.

I am so glad Parker likes basketball games! hopefully we will get to go to the state championships again this year!!

A very busy couple of days (filled with love!!)

This weekend has been CRAZY busy!! This post is going to be long and filled with a lot of pictures!!!
Dennis and I don't really celebrate Valentines Day. We never have...it is my sister's birthday and we always do something with her and the family. This year it was busier than ever.

It all started on Thursday night. We had to get Parker's valentines ready for school and his vday party the next day. He is such a big boy. He helped mommy tear apart all of the cards.

He was having a lot of fun!!

Friday was his big valentines day party at school. Here is Parker in his party shirt!!

On Friday night we went out to eat for Kelsey's birthday (one of many meals...we do birth weeks in our family!!).

We ate really late for Parker. It was almost 10 before we got home. Parker did sooo good the whole night! It was probably because mommy was so fun at dinner!! Here we are being silly with our pouty lips.

On Saturday, I hosted a baby shower at my house for my friend Brie. She is due at the end of March and got lots of cute things. Girl baby showers are soooo much fun!!!

The shower was coed. I had a "boy table" and the big pretty table. Brie wanted her dad and husband to be able to experience a baby shower. So, all of the hostesses' husbands came and a few other guys ended up coming. I thought it added an interesting dynamic to the shower.

Jon even helped Brie open gifts. He had no idea what any of it was....so funny! one example....he thought a bottle cleaner was a toilet brush!!

On Saturday night I helped my mom host a Valentine's dinner for some of her friends. It was really laid back, but I was still tired!!

On Sunday, Parker got to have his Vday presents. He got two new Barney DVDs and a really fun book.

And then Parker gave me a Valentine!!! He knows how much I love chocolate!
I told you that Dennis and I dont really "do" Valentine's day. Well, this year I had been eyeing all of the holiday chocolate and I had been telling Dennis that all I want for Vday is some chocolate. Well, I think he managed to get me the biggest box of chocolates I had ever seen!!!
On Sunday, after church we went out to lunch with my entire family for Kelsery's birhtday. Here she is with her cake.
A family picture

me and my little valentine
We got home about 1:30 from lunch and I worked on a paper from 1:30 till about 9:00.
Whew!! What a weekend! I hope everyone had a great weekend and Valentines Day.

CHD awareness week

A few years ago I never could have imagined how Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) awareness week would have such meaning in my life. Over two years ago my son was born with a not so common CHD and my life was forever changed. He is the strongest and most amazing person I have ever met and I am so blessed to call him my son and my best friend!

I first saw this poem on another heart mom's blog over a year ago. It touched my heart.....

It’s a beautiful day up in heaven. Jesus is rounding up his tiniest angels, to go live on earth, and be born. One of the sweetest angels says to Jesus “I don’t want to leave, I like it here, and I will miss you”.
He reassures the scared little angel that everything will be okay, and that he is just going for a visit. He is still not swayed on this idea. So Jesus kneels down, and says, “How about if you leave half of your heart here with me and take the other half with you, will that be okay?” The angel smiles and says, “I guess that will work”.
But the little angel is still a little scared. He asks,”Will I be okay with only half of my heart?” Jesus replies,”Of course you will, I have other angels there that will help out, and you will be fine.” Then Jesus gives the angel more details about his plan.
He says “When you are born, your mommy will be scared, so you have to be strong, and when you feel weak just remember that I have the other half of your heart”.
“Enjoy your time with your family, play and laugh everyday.” “And when its time to come back to heaven, I will make your heart whole again. Always remember that you are not broken, just torn between two loves.”

Another snow day!! and a radiothon

Well, we had another snow day!! Parker's school was closed again today. I HAD to take him with me to work this morning. I got a few things done around the office while Parker watched the movie Cars. We went to lunch with my family and then we played in the snow a little more. Parker remembered falling yesterday, so he wasnt that into it!! But, we got a few cute pics.....

Thankfully, Parker took a 3 hour nap today and I got some much needed time to do school work! After his nap Parker helped Daddy vacuum!! He should be tall enough very soon to do this by himself, dont you think?
Please pray for us tomorrow.....We are going to be on the B98.5 Champion for Kids Radiothon. It is a three day fundraiser for Arkansas Childrens Hospital. We are going to tell Parker's story and give an update on him. Last time we did this was two years ago right before Parker's second heart surgery and I was a mess! My family still makes fun of me for crying through the entire interview!! For those of you around the Little Rock area, we will be on at 9:05 am!!

Snow day

I worked last night at the hospital. At about 1:00 am someone said "it's snowing". I looked outside and it was just a few flurries but it so pretty. I thought to myself that noone will believe me when I tell them that it snowed tonight. Well, at about 5:00 am I looked outside and there was like 3 inches of snow on the ground and all the schools had closed for the day. I called Dennis and he insisted on picking me up from work. I dont have the most perfect driving record, so it was probably for the best!!! It snowed all day. I dont know for sure how much snow we ended up with (like 5 inches on our back porch). It is suppose to snow more tonight!! I dont remember when it has snowed this much in Arkansas!! Kinda fun, but I really need to work. It is hard to do school and work when Parker's daycare is closed!

Here are a few pictures from our snow day!

we got an old blow up pool (it has a hole in it) and let Parker "sled" in it. SO FUNNY!!

It was a nice day at home. I got to sleep for a few hourse when I got home from work and then play with Parker! I hope things are open tomorrow! One snow day is enough for me.....I dont like to get behind!!!

Museum and B-ball

Well, I have not been the best blogger lately. On Saturday, we went to the Museum of Discovery with Stephen, Sarah and Sydney. There is a section just for little kids, Parker and Sydney had a blast! The chased and followed each other around.

Sliding together

Fighting over the light up piano.

After the museum, we went to Razorback pizza for dinner.
After dinner, Sydney and Parker wanted to play "b-ball" so badly!!!

Here they are "playing" the arcade basketball game. They loved it!!
Of course, I had to add a silly picture of Parker. He loves to put on the Mr Potatoe Head glasses and get out his books and "read".
Hope everyone had a great weekend. It is snowing here....I will post about that later!!

Just catching up

It has been a few days since I have blogged. We have had a really busy couple of days. Last week the night before we got a big ice/snow storm we had dinner with Stephen, Sarah, and Sydney. Parker and Sydney just love each other. They love sitting next to each other at dinner, they are so silly together. When we left the restaraunt we decided to walk around the stores. ( I cant believe it was that warm the day before we got a few inches of snow and ice!! crazy Arkansas weather!) Parker and Sydney just walked and held hands...those two are just so darn cute together!!!

On Friday it snowed and iced. We werent really stuck at home but nothing was open so we stayed at home and played and watched movies on Saturday.

Parker wasnt too interested in the snow. He went out for a few minutes but just thought it was cold!! He wont wear gloves or mittens so his little hands were so cold!
He loved it when Daddy threw a snow ball at him. But he couldnt figure out how to make one to throw back at him!! (I helped him!!)
I have had to work alot the past couple of days so Daddy and Parker have had some "guy time". They said they did alot of wrestling and watched Barney. Throughout the days Dennis sent me a few pictures on my phone.

Here is Parker modeling his new Moose pajamas from Nana.
Here is another picture they sent me....Just look at that mess in the background!!! Parker doesnt really have to pick anything up or be neat when it is just him and Daddy. (I think they eat cereal for every meal when I am gone!!.....boys!!!)
This morning I was taking a picture of Parker in one of his Valentines shirts. This is the only one I could get before the power went out!! It is a beautiful clear day and our power goes out!. Dennis was at the office and I couldnt get the garage door open. So, we had to wait on Dennis to come home to let us out!! We were a little late this morning!

I hope everyone is having a great week! I have a busy week of working and a lot of school stuff that is due soon, ugggh!! why did I go back to school??!! I can do this, I can do this! :)
