Cardiology update

It's crazy how much life has changed in the last few years. Two years ago I lived from cardiology appointment to cardiology appointment.  And now we just went a whole six months without seeing the cardiologist, we didnt even check a pulse ox during those six months!!! Our life just kind of transitioned after Parker's last heart surgery (which was 1 1/2 years ago, can you believe that!??). We are so blessed and Parker is doing amazing!

We saw our wonderful doctor yesterday. He is so amazing with Parker and Parker just loves going to see him. Everything looked stable. No changes from his last visit and we go back in 6 months! The only change is that we are going to try his medicine in pill form instead of liquid...because he is a big boy =)

When I told him Parker was playing soccer, Dr. Seib sat me down and wanted to discuss my expectation in regards to Parker playing sports. He said he may be able to keep up now but as they get older his endurance will not increase like the other kids. In a year or two when the fields get bigger and the kids can run longer Parker will not be able to participate. I know this but I think that it was good to be reminded and to discuss what my expectations should be. We definitely dont want to make him sit in a corner but we also need to be realistic. The good thing about Parker and what made Dr. Seib more comfortable, is that he limits himself, he will come sit or rest when he is tired. I think golf is in our future...I love golf!! =)

So, Parker is doing great and the cardiology appointment was perfect!

Soccer and Tailgating...pretty great weekend

First of all, look at my big boy....This is is his K4 yearbook picture for the 2012-2013 school year. It is truely unbelievable that he is this old!

Parker started soccer this weekend. They have practice for 30 mintutes and then they have a game. Parker loved practice but he did not love the actual game. He didnt like that everyone has to share one ball during the game. He wanted his own ball to kick in the goal. This is not something I could prepare him for and it was just not a fun time.

He had practice last night and he LOVED it, but he had his own ball. At the end of practice was a short scrimage. He did ok with this "game" but still was sad that he didnt get his own ball. I think it will just take a little while for him to understand the concept. This is his first time to be on a team and play a sport. I am just amazed that he can even play soccer, if you had asked me 2 years ago...I would have said "no way, he will get too tired." I am so proud of him!

Parker went home with Granny and Papa after his soccer game and we went tailgating for the first Razorback game in Little Rock this year. Tailgating in Little Rock is soooo much fun! The entire War Memorial golf course is packed full of cars and tents.

It is one of my favorite things to do during football season!! AND the weather was absolutely perfect the entire weekend!!

The day is full of delicious food, fun and we always see so many friends!

We didn't have tickets to the game, we just tailgated =)

To keep this post happy and up beat, I will just leave it at that and not even mention the outcome of the game.

Still love my Hogs!

Have a great week!

Star of the Week!!

Parker's teacher picks one student each week to be the star of the week. This means they get to help her with everything all week. They also get to pick all of the other helpers when they are busy helping the teacher with something bigger and better.

Well, this week is Parker's week to be star of the week! He has been excited to say the least. We made a poster this weekend that is all about him and his favorite things, this will be displayed all week at the front of the classroom. He also gets to bring something special everyday to show his class! Today he chose his trains and his truck/trailor. Those are his absolute favorite toys right now.

I cant wait to hear all about his day and all the fun things he got to help his teacher do!!

The Official start to my favorite time of year

We had a fun 3-day weekend!

Razorback football season officially began this weekend and that is always a favorite in our house! And it means that fall is here, my favorite time of year! Now the weather needs to cooperate!

On Sunday we went to Hot Springs to spend our last weekend on the lake. Since all of the 4th of July fireworks were cancelled due to the burn ban, a lot of places did Labor Day fireworks!

It is always so nice to go for a boat ride in the evening. Isn't that sunset gorgeous!! The kids loved watching the fireworks from the boat!
We spent some time on the boat but most of the time was spent in the water because of the 100 + temps.
Parker and Tyler (my little brother, Parker's uncle..ha!) are best buddies and had lots of fun swimming this weekend!!

I do love summer and sun, but fall is my favorite time of year and I am so glad it is here!!
Happy Fall Y'all!!

"camping"

This past weekend we had our annual camping trip to Lake Catherine with the Johnson's.
Camping = staying in a two bedroom cabin with air conditioning, kitchen, bathroom and all =)

Im not much of a tent camper. Dennis already has plans for him and Parker to pitch a tent and camp...without me =)

We had so much fun this weekend. The weather was not perfect. It rained on and off but thankfully it never got really hot! The kids had a blast.....

i Building forts!

We had a blast going into town to play putt putt. This was Parker's first time to play golf and he really got excited about it all!

We also did a lot of fishing. The kids would take turns bringing in the fish but, as you can tell, Parker would not touch them! He kept those arms crossed tight when the fish was around.

He was so proud that he could swim this far!! Such a big boy.
It was so nice to spend time with my sweet boys and good friends for a few days.
Parker has been so good at school and has gotten to pick an item from the treasure chest every week since school started!! This week he chose these silly glasses....
We are so proud of Parker, his teacher is great and he is really loving school. It is amazing how much he has grown up since last year!!

silly boy

Parker has been sick with an ear infection and pink eye the last few days but he is finally on the mend. Last night he finally felt good enough to play outside! And went back to school this morning...its hard when both parents work full time. Thankfully Dennis has a job where he can work at home if he needs to.

Parker's favorite thing to do outside is ride his bike or his "little jeep".

He is very silly...
He picked out these red sunglasses to match his jeep.

Love my silly boy and so glad he is feeling better!

No better time

Well, it has been a very long time since I have posted on the good ole blog. It actually became very stressful and daunting to think about updating because so much has happened and we have done so many fun things since March.
I decided that there is no better time to pick back up the blog than on Parker's very first day of K4!!

He was beyond excited! He was very overwhelmed and just could not contain his excitement! He was hugging everyone! He loves routine and school is the perfect place for him, he is so happy!

Over the last few months everything has been great!
*I graduated with my Masters in Nursing and now I am a nurse pracitioner and have a big girl job! It is the perfect job for me and my family. Some days I get sad and overwhelmed when I think about being a full time working mommy but I am figuring it all out =) and I love love love my job!!
*Dennis and I went to Hawaii for a graduation present....so fun!!
*Parker had a great check up with his cardiologist in April
*Dennis had foot surgery a few weeks ago. He is in a big boot but bouncing back quicte nicely!
*We have had lots of fun weekends with friends and family!

Now the blog can start fresh with Parker's first day of K4. I seriously cannot believe how big and grown up he is! I absolutely love his teacher this year, I get teary thinking about her and how God has blessed us this year! Parker will be starting soccer in a few weeks....that should be very entertaining!! We have been practicing not touching the ball with our hands! Lots of fun in the future with this wild and awesome little boy!

The 52

When I met Dennis almost 10 years ago he had just purchased a very old and rusty 1952 chevy truck. He drove it for a while and then decided to restore it back to it's glory days. We have SLOWLY been doing things to it and a restoration guy has had it for the last few years.
Well, we got the truck back this weekend and Dennis is beyond excited!! It still has quite a ways to go but it is definitely getting there.

I think Dennis is the most excited about Parker helping him with the old truck.
Parker told me that there wasnt enough room for me...only him and Daddy.

I just know over the next few years I am going to see two sets of legs sticking out from under that truck every weekend!

LOVE this picture of Parker..He is growing up way too fast!
We have also been having so much fun in the neighborhood!! All the kids are out playing....so fun!

Catching up.

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind! I have spent every last second studying for my boards, but I have managed to squeeze in a few minutes with this sweet boy....

We had a fun Valentine's Day. He loved the party at school and even got a special card from his girlfriend, Savannah!

Parker is the sweetest....

The weather has been really crazy. One day it snowed and the next it was 80 degrees and we were out doing yard work!

Parker loves helping daddy, he even has his own rake!

The best part of the warm weather is the socializing!! We live on a culdesac and there are 5 kids Parker's age. We love our neighbors!! The kids are getting old enough to just do their own thing and the moms can just visit.

I am so excited about the warm weather.....I can now go to the park whenever I want because I dont ever have to study again!! I passed my boards last week and .....

I am officially a board certified nurse practitioner!!
This weekend we stayed in Hot Springs to celebrate and went to the horse races with a few friends.
Love my sweet husband! I think he is the most excited that I passed!!

It feels so amazing to finally be in the stage of life I have been working so hard to get to. NO more school and just one amazing job!! AHHH!!

Maybe now I can keep the blog up to date....

Spoonies

I have been neglecting the blog lately. Things are going great, just super busy! I have been at my new job for about three weeks now and I absolutely love it! God has blessed me with the most amazing job! I could not be more happy. I am working for a wonderful, nice, christian neurosurgeon and I just can't wait to see what the future holds!

Last weekend I went duck hunting with Dennis and I killed my first duck. Above is a picture of the view from my hunting spot. It was so beautiful!

I shot and killed a flying duck right out of the sky, go me!! Of course, Dennis is so excited that I killed my first duck (a spoon bill, or spoonie) and is already planning on how I should get it mounted =)

Duck hunting was so much more fun than I thought it would be. It was so beautiful watching the sun rise over the water. It is also so fun to spend time with my husband doing his favorite thing in the world!

\
This cutie was at home waiting on us when we finished!

Parker is doing great since starting back to school! He went his first two weeks without getting his named moved!! He got to go out for ice cream as his treat!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful new year!
